Trauma and Change with Staffordshire County Council “Fabulous, inspirational training."

Greetings one and all,

Yesterday I delivered my Trauma and Change course ‘we can do it better’ to staff from Staffordshire County Council. As always, they were a very motivated and inspiring group of learners. I ALWAYS find this the case with Staffordshire CC. The topic could of course be difficult to discuss. I believe that my way of involving everyone in the training, making sure that people are comfortable and engaged goes a long way to ensuring people learn and remember the training.

I have always championed the cause of ‘lived experience’ all the way back to my days in teenage pregnancy. Can it really be that long ago? Blimey, I am getting old (and embracing the silver fox look!) My films have always told the stories of real people and the expertise that they bring to the subject of trauma. Both Ryan and Charlotte have been inspirational in their openness and need to share their post traumatic growth. Sometimes they were helped by services and at other times hindered. As the course title suggest, we can do it better.

I left the classroom feeling elated and I’m pretty sure I’ve made some new friends too. I have collated together all of the feedback from the session, should you so desire, please peruse and see what exciting and dynamic training I’ve created. The feedback is of course 100% positive:

“Really good, interactive training. Steven explained trauma and the way in which people can change. All done in an informative way using the true lived stories with real insight.”

“A great session. I loved hearing the real-life example from the people you worked with. I will definitely be thinking of this in my practice going forward. Thanks Steve.”
