“This was a really enjoyable and informative course." Effective Factual Recording (housing) Dec 23

Well, that was my last training session of 2023 and what a year it has been. Great to finish off with two of my most popular councils, Birmingham City Council and my own local authority, Staffordshire County Council. With Birmingham I delivered my extremely popular ‘Effective Factual Recording’ session, which some people may assume to be a dry and boring affair. No, no, no, no, no – I’ll not have a bit of it! Just check out the feedback and the lovely comments from the troops, there’s nothing boring with the Steven Talbot approach to learning and development.

Thank you Birmingham, for continuing to support my endeavours and recognising the importance of this training at this particularly trying time for the council.

“The Training was well structured, with information and group activities which ensured the objectives were met and understood. The style of Training was excellent.”

“As always a pleasure to attend your Training sessions.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the training – Steven was so informative and delivered the training in such a way that you wanted more. Easy to listen to and made it fun. Was impressed with Zoom also – used it for the first time.”

“Thank you so much for a lovely day and really enjoyed the training. I hope you have a lovey Christmas too. 😊”

“Great use of videos to support the training topic. The videos set out very clearly how not to deal with a customer who has housing emergencies. I like this approach rather than the trainer reading it from a script or explaining it verbally. The videos were relevant and not too long. We were able to see the situation from the customer and staff angle. We also had good examples of: ‘how to communicate effectively’ with customers.”

“Great use of support tasks to consolidate the objectives. Short, sharp and to the point. The breakout groups helped me to meet other staff members, interact on the tasks and kept me engaged. Steven, thank you for your training today. I like your informal, yet professional approach because I could relate to the issues that arise and I know they are real scenarios that can and do happen. It was also good for me to have reminders about assumptions and judgements, and to focus on the facts.”

“Your artwork is incredible and thank you for sharing it in your work because it really makes your training unique and personal to you, in a way that shows realness and authenticity. I missed out on your 3 day training last year because we were short staffed and I had to work instead. I now know what I missed out on. Have a great Festive Holiday. Karen – everyone knows me as Karen.”

“This was a really enjoyable and informative course. Steven made sure that it was very interactive ensuring that everyone got something out of it. Online courses can sometimes mean that people don’t have to engage, but this was absolutely not the case and the group exercises meant that all participants got to work with various other participants throughout the day. A great course from a very charismatic trainer. First class – thank you! 😊”

“The training was highly informative and active, as we had a variety of different activities and whilst doing the activities, we had been divided into small groups to complete them. It was more interactive this way and made the content flow through quickly. I spoke to different people whom I normally wouldn’t and just being able to get their views and opinion on certain topics. The trainer also being interactive and asking follow up questions to keep us engaged and making sure we are following through. Plus, providing enough time for breaks to split the time up and not have constant information.”

“The information provided was clear and relatable. I really enjoyed the level of interaction on this training course, it helps to look back at each section and discuss the scenarios with the others on the course.”

“Very interesting training course, it was also enjoyable. This will definitely help me with my future recording task.”
