Now, how about that for feedback!
I recently had the absolute joy of training a cohort of learners from across Staffordshire family hubs. Some of the staff were a tad nervous about the training as they didn’t quite know what they were going to get. Well, I soon alleviated those fears. The day was a mixture of activities, resources, tips on how to engage with all manner people and of course one of my bespoke murder mysteries. This time it was ‘Carnage at the East Vale Hub.’ Who came a cropper? Why it was Albert Harkaway – the volunteer at the East Vale Family Hub. Whodunnit? Well, that would be telling, but put it this way, everyone managed to correctly guess the culprit by round four.

The aim and objectives of the session are here for you to peruse, along with some rather lovely feedback from the assembled learners. I was honoured to be asked to create their away day and to tell you the truth it absolutely nourished my soul. They were brilliant.
Aim: The aim of this session is to equip learners with the skills required to encourage, challenge and support families across Staffordshire. We will also explore how to work compassionately with both colleagues and customers.
Objectives: By the end of the day’s training, all learners will have:
1. Explored pro-social behaviour.
2. Examined their professional values.
3. Recognised the different ways in which children and family members and professionals may respond to probing and / or intervention.
4. Identified ways in which we can challenge both family members and professionals, using assertiveness, consistency and confidence.
5. Determined how to continue to work within a stressful work environment.
6. Explained the importance of self-care through reflective practice.
7. Recognised the need for self-regulation and being open and honest about stresses.
8. Taken part in a murder mystery…
