Greetings one and all,

I’ve had a joyous time over the last few months, I’ve been training staff from various schools, support groups, charities and housing associations from across Staffordshire.  The course – ‘Inspiring Change’ Motivational Interviewing (MI) with children and families.  Staffordshire County Council are ahead of the curve when it comes to training up their partner agencies.  Feedback has been 100% positive with some lovely, lovely comments:

“I would recommend Steven’s MI training to anyone and everyone. Steven is absolutely brilliant.”

Let’s be honest, feedback like that perks your day up!

The course was created in conjunction with various organisations.  I spent a great deal of time researching and interviewing numerous professionals. I wanted to get to the core of WHY they do what they do and the barriers that they face.  I could then create training that reflected their various job roles and the needs of the families that we are working with.

It’s definitely been well received:

“I really enjoyed it; it was very engaging. I think it makes a massive difference hearing from someone with lots of first-hand experience of using the techniques.”

“I would absolutely recommend this training, it was a great day and will benefit my practice.”

“This is going to be super helpful when working with children and families who might not always like school or have negative experiences with schools.”

“The skills Steven taught will enhance my ability to engage CYP in difficult conversations and support them in being motivated to make changes.”

"I will apply this learning by using motivational interviewing techniques to better understand the reasons behind students’ behaviours and to support them in identifying their own goals. This approach will help build trust, reduce resistance, and encourage positive change, especially for students with SEND who may display challenging behaviours.”

“I will be able to apply this training in my everyday work life whilst working with children and families. Especially when they feel let down or reluctant to open up and gain support and help.”

“The training will help us to support individuals and help with behaviour change.”

“I am fairly new in this job role and now feel like I have something that I can put into practice to help with my cases.”

“I feel this training has given me more confidence and understanding of motivational interviewing which I use within my practice.”

“All really valuable and gave me food for thought.  I am very good at listening but advise rather than getting the customer to come to their own conclusions.  I feel this will really help me.”
