Greetings faithful readers of the blog post,
Today, I had the pleasure of training an array of professionals from across Stroke on Trent. This was courtesy of Expert Citizens Insight Academy. They included staff from Pause, North Staffs YMCA, VAST, Concrete, Stoke on Trent City Council, Saltbox, North Staffs Mind and Citizens Advice. It was a day of Empathy Fatigue and as always, the course was a palpable hit with those who attended. I’ve taken great delight in updating the course and keeping abreast of the research into empathy fatigue and the need to embrace ‘Rational Compassion.’
I delivered the course via Zoom, sometimes this works even better! I know, who would have thought it! As I’m a master at online training , I have created a totally immersive, hands on course that allows for teamwork and working in pairs. The various bespoke Zoom rooms that I’ve created for the tasks mean that the course allows for more confidentiality. I think people feel more comfortable talking about the stresses they are experiencing at work in smaller, more intimate rooms.
I asked the learners for a smattering of learner comments before the full feedback comments and here is what they wrote:
“Thank you Steve. Just as good as in person training!!”
“Wonderful training as always Steven! As good online as good as it is in person! Thank you :).”
“Thank you Steven – absolutely brilliant.”
“I’ve been on (what some people would describe as) similar courses and they don’t even compare to you Steven. No death by PowerPoint and you really get us to think.”
“Fantastic course as always. Thank you.”
“Thanks so much for training. Really engaging and thorough.”
“I've had a really good time on this course. It was brilliant training and really fun! Who thought empathy fatigue could be so funny! Thank you!!!”
“Fabulous as always, informative and humour filled! Never a disappointment, always a pleasure!”
“Thanks Steve, I really enjoyed it. You are a genius at getting everyone feeling safe and involved.”
“Ace as always Steve!”
Look out for lots more training across 2026. Tomorrow brings two days of Motivational Interviewing and Thursday brings Hoarding Compulsion. The year has started with a BANG!
