And to round off a fun packed week, I delivered my always extremely popular course, ‘Trauma and Change.’ This course has been the talking point of my career over the last few years. I think that some people arrive thinking it’s going to be a day of dour pronouncements and wall to wall depression, when in fact, it’s a pretty life affirming day. A day in which I discuss and demonstrate post-traumatic growth and the success stories from across Stoke-on-Trent. The learners this time were from across Stoke on Trent City Council’s Adult Social Care teams. The training was part of Expert Citizens Insight Academy and I bet you are all a bit bored of my banging on about them! Legends.
I absolutely loved interviewing the various people who informed the training. Hearing their stories was a privilege and I always love to see their input highlighted on the feedback forms. Yesterday we had:
“Loved the delivery of the session, true life accounts of experiences help give me a greater understanding of the causes of trauma especially liked Ryan & Charlottes contribution & their journey.”
“The course was really interesting was nice to hear the life story of Ryan and Charlotte and how they have turned their lives around.”
“Especially Ryan & Charlotte how they both progressed in life for the better, well done keep it up.”
“Steven Talbot was amazing and Ryan & Charlotte need to be thanked for sharing their stories.”
And lots more besides. When asked, ‘Would you recommend this training session to others and why?’ This is what the learners had to say:
“Yes, informative.”
“Yes, very informative.”
“Yes, brilliant course, everyone should do it. It would increase people’s knowledge and have more empathy.”
“I would recommend this session.”

“Definitely, very interesting and informative and quite shocking.”
“I would recommend, it gives a good insight into trauma people experience & how we can approach the way we support a person.”
“Yes, always a delight when Steven carries out the training, very informative and opens up the lack of support that people receive.”
