Empathy Fatigue with Insight Academy "I left feeling informed and inspired." March 2023

Empathy Fatigue – Embracing Rational Compassion

Hello faithful reader of my blog posts,

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of delivering my Empathy Fatigue training to a group of professionals from across Stoke-on-Trent. I am particularly proud of the training, especially as it includes so many voices of people who needed to share their stories. This was at the behest of Expert Citizens, Insight Academy who have supported my endeavours throughout 2022 and now into 2023. The citizens of Stoke and North Staffordshire are extremely fortunate to have an academy that is first and foremost led by lived experience. A training environment that offers excellent (even if I do say so myself) learning and development opportunities.

Throughout the training, I share the many stories of professionals from across Stoke, people who work for the council, the NHS, for charities and housing organisations. All of whom experienced either empathy fatigue and / or burnout. The training day equips people with the skills to spot if they are heading for burnout or are experiencing fatigue. We then look at ways in which we can enhance our resilience and also address when we are being stretched too thin.

I have collated some of the feedback comments from the training and as you can see, people were suitably impressed with my ‘23 updated version of the training.

“Many thanks on the session today, I learned lots!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed attending the session today following the recommendation from my colleagues from Staffordshire Police. Steven was incredibly engaging and knowledgeable, and the format of the training was very easy to follow. I will definitely keep my eye out in future for any training which is led by Steven, and will be sure to recommend his sessions to others. Thank you!”

“This training is for anyone wanting a better understanding of their own mental health. Brilliant.”

“Steven, keep being fabulous.”

“As always, Steven managed to achieve the right mix of knowledge, materials, quotes and group participation. The training was interesting, fun and I left feeling informed, inspired and ready to transfer the learning into both my personal and work life.”

“Thank you, Steven, looking forward to continuing my professional and personal development with you.”

“Thanks so much for an amazing training session. Well done and keep up excellent work.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed your training Steve. You made it extremely knowledgeable and the training videos were really well done. I was totally focused and wanted to learn all I could. As you know some training can be tiring. Learned more about me and a better way to look out for me, and do my job much more productively. Will certainly let my manager Sharon and deputy Marie know your training on this is important for ALL the staff to access. Thank you.”
