“I absolutely loved today's training.”
Well, May has certainly been a fun packed month. The busiest month on record and next week brings my very busy June too. It’s none stop and I bloomin’ love it! I recently had the pleasure of training a cohort of learners from across various organisations from Stoke on Trent for Expert Citizens Insight Academy. HOW lucky are the people from Stoke having the academy as such an amazing resource! Top tier training! The course was the newly revamped 2025 version of ‘Effective Factual Recording.’ New films, (more Joan and Thomasina folks!) new activities, discussion, small group work, written tasks and plenty of hands-on learning tools.
“Very informative and the interaction was great. The information was relayed in a way that you can relate to and understand.”
I’m often surprised by how much learners enjoy the course, I think they’re shocked to find that an effective factual recording course can be SO kinaesthetic. I’ve been asked for the aims and objectives, so here they are:
Aim: To ensure that all staff can record information correctly, legibly and legally, establishing effective communication with all customers and colleagues.
Objectives:
1. Explain the importance of legal and legible case notes.
2. Explore barriers to communication, especially in relation to what has previously been stated about the client.
3. Describe some of the common pitfalls when completing notes.
4. Illustrate how to overcome any assumptions.
5. Determine how to ensure that the client’s voice is heard.
6. Express how to create excellent notes that quote what the person has stated.
7. Described the need to summarise in a succinct and factual fashion that tells the full story.
And here is what people had to say:
“This will help to ensure my notes are factual and accurately depict the work and disclosures of a customer I am supporting.”
“My case notes will definitely be improved.”
“Ensure notes are written as soon as possible and not having a set day to do this.”
“I absolutely loved today's training.”
“Very informative and the interaction was great. The information was relayed in a way that you can relate to and understand.”
“I’ll be writing my notes more efficiently!”
“Reinforced my feeling that we need to send more staff on this excellent training. It’s one of the most important aspects of case and safeguarding management.”
“Recording more effective noted and also share with my team.”
