“Steven it was a privilege to be in your class today. Your dedication, humour and obvious compassion for others was evident throughout and I haven’t stopped thinking about what you said about safeguarding. A remarkable day. Thank you.”
Now, how about THAT for some feedback eh? Hello all. It has been a wee while since I last did a blog post. Work – life balance is now much, much better. I am now living by the quote that I’ve been sharing on my Empathy fatigue course:
“Why do we depend so much on the material world to validate us? The chase for more, and the need to be recognised through our achievements and belongings, can hinder us from the real things, like time with those we love, time doing things we love ourselves and balance in our lives.”
Bronnie Ware
And isn’t she spot on? So, what’s that first quote all about? Well, let me tell you – earlier in November I delivered ‘Lead Worker’ training to a cohort of staff from various organisations, school, colleges, housing associations, charities etc. across Staffordshire. Each time I deliver the course I am surrounded by wonderful, enthusiastic people. The course COULD be a real slog. Endless case files and a feeling of, ‘it’s all so hopeless.’ Not a bit of it! On my course we look at both the negatives and the positives. What we often fail to recognise is that we ARE having a positive impact on our families, our young people, the lives of children. We ARE improving their lot in life and we are bloody brilliant! Oh yes! Sometimes, we just need to safeguard better, quicker and ore often!
The learners enthuse wholeheartedly about the course, and I won’t bore you to death with the endless feedback, I’ll leave you safe in the knowledge that feedback has been 100% positive with learners loving the training films that I’ve created, the various activities and the interactive nature of the training.
More to come in 2026!
