Greetings one and all,
Yesterday, as part of Stoke on Trent City Council’s practice week, I helped them out with a short half day session on procrastination. I like to think of procrastination as a form of self-regulation failure, characterized by the irrational delay of tasks despite potentially negative consequences. So, what does the course entail:
Aim: By the completion of the course all learners will have explored what is meant by procrastination and how to motivate themselves to change their thoughts and actions.
Objectives: By the end of the session, you will have:
· Explored what is meant by procrastination.
· Explained the five types of procrastination.
· Described how to prioritise or disregard things using the circles of influence and concern.
· Explored how to stop defensiveness and build purpose building behaviours.
· Recognised the need for self-regulation and being open and honest about stresses.
As always with staff from Stoke on Trent City Council, they were UP for the training and clearly motivated. It was lovely to hear people being so open about their workload struggles and the work-based activities that they just stick on their ‘to do’ list, the list that never gets done!
The training is fully interactive, with lots of hints and tips to overcome procrastination.
“Great training as always with Steven. The work he puts into his course is like no other and he also makes sure it is all relevant!”
“Lovely to see you again Steven. Excellent training, I’m going to stop being a procrastinator! Probably… 😊”
“Thanks Steven, great training :)”
“In a word – excellent. So engaging and so much to reflect on.”
“Thanks Steven great as ever - see you next time in Sainsburys 🥹!”
“Thank you this was amazing! I think this needs to be rolled out as mandatory training!! Everyone needs to combat that inner procrastinator!”
“The best trainer that Stoke uses and we need more of him.”
“Thanks Steven. Always great training. Your training really is the best.”
"I wish other trainers created training as interactive and enjoyable as yours.”
“Very self-reflective! Super engaging 🙂 Thank you.”
“This was really enjoyable and engaging training; I’ll go away and think about how I can stop the inner saboteur in me!”
“Thank you Steven, we only had a short session but I’ve learned so much about myself. Can we have more training from you please!?”
