"This training has helped me immeasurably." Effective Factual Recording with BCC Oct 23

Hello all,

Guess what? I’m back at Birmingham. Birmingham City Council have been very supportive of my endeavours and so I thought I’d repay the favour. As some of you will be aware there have been several issues at Birmingham City Council and some of the staff have said to me that they have been feeling very anxious about the future. Thus, I updated my factual recording session to embrace some activities around fatigue and anxiety and the assembled learners thoroughly enjoyed it.

Their drive and determination to continue no matter the political situation is inspiring to me and I was rather moved by some of the learner comments after the training. I think we could all do with some reflection and time to assess just how these BIG, monumental ‘happenings’ effect the staff. And of course, how that effects their ability to offer the residents of Birmingham a tip-top, first rate service.

I hope that the learners left the training feeling suitably rejuvenated and raring to go. I know I did.

Here is the feedback and as you can see it is 100% positive.

“Very factual and just highlighted the importance of keeping accurate information. Great interaction and would wish for Steven to train staff on all courses at BCC. Refocused stuff that I already know but good to have a refresher.”

“Easy to follow, thought provoking, tools and pointers provided for better recording of Information. Why is factual information recording vital. Types of communications issues. Break-out sessions were good and very timely.”

“A brilliant day’s training. Lots of information and lots of fun. The fact you gave us time to discuss what has happened at the council and how that is ‘outside our circle of influence’ was inspirational.”

“I loved the training. Steven was very informative and approachable, and he used slides and stories to encourage the importance of notes been factual. I also enjoyed the interactive workshop with other colleagues and the priorities stress levels task to help me recognise when I may be become stress and the options in how to deal with it. In all very good training session and well delivered by Steven.”

“Thank you for the lovely session. I thought, ‘oh no a whole day on effective recording’ and thought I’d be bored. This could not have been further from the truth. I absolutely loved the work you have out in to creating the training films. The Thomasina films really hit home as I have worked with many clients who have experienced homelessness and the anxiety of losing their home. Thank you Steven.”

“The session made me really think about what needs to be recorded & how to best to record notes that are going onto a system. I think this session would have been more beneficial if this was face to face (I dislike having to go into the office). I found this a very enjoyable training session. It was nice to meet you.”

“A very informative and enjoyable day. The tasks were reflective, I gained a greater understanding about both myself and other colleague’s ways of working and recording.”

“Very informative and helpful training for my job role within the Housing Solution and Support service where the factual recording skills learned will be relevant when inputting/recording case notes on our Northgate system.”

“In all an excellent session in which I learned about how stresses can impact my ability to factually record data about clients. I have definitely been guilty of this and this training has helped me immeasurably. I wish all trainers were like Steve though!”

Training was very informative and engaging. One of the best and effective training sessions I have ever attended. Thank you “Steven.”
