"Steve was absolutely fabulous! I connected with him instantly." Collaborative Working with BCC

Hello all,

I think by now, you are all aware it’s pretty much a given that I LOVE training the staff from Birmingham City Council. Talk about motivated, gifted and passionate! They are an absolute joy to teach. I have found myself becoming quite moved by their stories and anecdotes, especially in relation to their going above and beyond to support their colleagues through some very rough times.

This week I delivered my ‘Essential Collaboration’ learning and development session to the ‘Future Leaders’ and it was (yet again) an exceptionally life affirming day for me! As with all training sessions, I give my all, but blimey so did the learners. Birmingham City Council is going above and beyond by supporting and assisting staff in their career progression, equipping them with the skills to become better leaders and compassionate managers. It really has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my working life. PLUS, I’ve made some lovely chums along the way (some of which will be appearing in my forthcoming 2023 training films,) so, it’s all rather brilliant.

Below, you will see a smattering of the feedback comments: please peruse at your leisure and of course, it is all 100% positive.

“What an enjoyable day! The content and interactive parts to the workshop were well balanced and very relevant to the course. Usually, I dread an online full day workshop but todays, I have to say, was the best one I have attended.

Steven was very informative, was able to bring the group along as a collective to make the most of the session and all parts were well aligned to the phases of the course.

I feel my personal knowledge of collaborative working has been enhanced but also as importantly my personal motivations to look at how collaboration pays a part in my own experiences and lifestyle have been refreshed.

Thank you Steven.”

“As a Community Partnership Worker, my expectations were that this course would provide me with a refresher of what I might know already. However, what this course did was shone a light on all the intricacies of Collaborative Working, taking the learning to a whole other level. It was ‘real’, pitched at a perfect level, motivational, with so many aspects that if you weren’t doing already, you could take away and implement immediately.

In my opinion, the trainer is key to what you receive from a course and the impact it has on you. Steve was absolutely fabulous! I connected with him instantly - we talk about ‘Logical Levels’ as an ODP concept in BCC (Own, Drive and Perform), Steve and I met on several of these!

The session was interactive from start to finish with an equal amount of group and breakout room time with Steve still checking in and supporting the work we did separately, providing great insight and knowledge throughout – assisted with real stories both personal and professional, all of with increased engagement from the delegates.

Finally, I was had by the visual creative elements of the course led by drama. Having a background in training through drama, I advocate for this learning and think that drama is one of the best ways to get a message across. The scenes were fun but real, sending up some of the challenging characters that we unfortunately come across! Thank you Steve.”

“The trainer was energising, competent and knowledgeable and pace and interaction was perfect.

It’s not often I finish an all -day training session and want more! AND I definitely wasn’t clock watching.

Thank you!”
