And that is very nearly a wrap!
Yesterday, I delivered the penultimate ‘Essential Collaboration’ - Collaborative Working at Birmingham City Council course, which is part of their future leader’s programme. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the up-and-coming stars of the local authority. All of whom have thrown themselves into the training programme with aplomb.
People have often asked me what are the aim and objectives of the course, well, here you go!
The Aim
The aim of this session is to equip you with the ability to deal constructively, persuasively and compassionately when working collaboratively with others in the workplace.
The Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session all learners will have:
Described what is meant by ‘essential collaboration.’
Explained how to connect with team members using emotional intelligence.
Described the need to avoid non-empathic responses to colleagues.
Examined how to cultivate a collaborative approach.
Explored ‘lingo bingo’ and plain English.
Determined their role in the team.
Explored how to stop defensiveness and build purpose building behaviours.
Recognised the need for efficiency through connection (no matter the distance.)
I’ve loved creating the training films and the various learning tools. I shall miss my future leaders.
Here are a few comments from yesterday’s session:
“Really engaging training – the best from the Future Leader Course – lots of interaction and thought provoking exercises.”
Cath
“Steven was a very engaging trainer skilled at getting full participation from the delegates without being forceful, yet challenging all managers to evaluate their own attitudes, behaviours and character when dealing with others. The delivery method was varied, thought provoking yet easy to grasp. I thoroughly enjoyed the added mix of humour which was very much in keeping with the flow of the session!”

“I found the course enjoyable, engaging and entertaining with some good examples of collaborative working with staff that I will apply going forwards. Like some course it didn’t focus on jargon, big words and text that can sometimes drown out the learning experience. Instead, it provided some good videos reflecting real situations we experience in the workplace. Steven was very helpful, enthusiastic thoughtful by making sure everyone participated and had the opportunity to give their own opinions and answers. I’m intrigued to see what other courses and videos Steven produces in the future.”
Nathan
“Great course, fun and interactive.”
