Greetings one and all,
Last week was a very busy week indeed, in fact I went to bed at 9pm on Friday as I was cream-crackered. Exhausted in a good way of course. Rather than write several self-serving blog posts highlighting the wonderful work and feedback, I thought I’d collate it together and stick to ONE self-serving blog post – I jest of course. You’ll see plenty more, I just can’t help myself.
First of all, I’d like to send Claire Williamson of Cheshire East Council a huge thank you for inviting me back to the council to deliver their Cheshire specific – children, young people, parents and carers Motivational Interviewing course. We had two great days, in two very different venues, I think the Town Hall won the best venue award. We certainly had air to breathe and we also got to see a wedding take place. It’s the little things that make you happy… More importantly I got to spend two days with some excellent members of staff. They each brought their own unique style to the classroom(s) and many a laugh was had, along with lots of learning.
The two days were made even more enjoyable when I learned I’d be joined by a former colleague of mine, the always legendary Vicki Spall, who very kindly acted as my chauffeur too. Vicki was one of the supreme leaders back in my youth development days with Stoke Council. She was always on-hand with sage advice and an open ear. She was someone who made a huge impact on me and it was great to see her success continue at Cheshire East Council.
The course was created with several people from across Cheshire. All of whom gave their time (and permission) for their stories to be shared. Hopefully hearing that lived experience will inform and educate the lovely folks from Cheshire East Council who attended the training.
As Julia stated on her feedback, “I found the two days very informative. A really good mix of activities and the video clips were all excellent for demonstrating the principles of motivational interviewing. I will no longer ask why!? I will recommend this course to colleagues. Thank you.”
Then we have Alex who wrote, “Brilliantly delivered, immensely enjoyable training, an authentic real presenter who made a complex subject easy to understand.”
Kay’s comments were, “Fantastic course! Most engaging course in many years! I learnt a lot. Ryan in the videos was engaging and made me reflect. Fantastic learning to take back to the work place.”
The legend that was Sarah, had these comments to share, “Fabulous training. Really thought provoking and it will definitely improve my practice. The trainer was awesome, very authentic and engaging. The use of real-life examples was very inspiring. Ryan – thank you for sharing your story and how fantastic that you allowed us to listen.”
Heather stated, “Amazing and interactive training! I learnt so much and really appreciated hearing Ryan and Travis’s stories. So Inspirational! Thank you so much for sharing and thanks for a brilliant two days.”
Cara had this feedback, “Fabulous examples from frontline practice. I was captivated by Ryan’s story, so good to hear the positive update. Thank you.”
Oh, all right we will have one more, quite a bit of the feedback was anonymous so I don’t know who I’m highlighting, I also failed to scoop up one table’s feedback forms, before they got recycled with the handouts! Oops! So, I’ll leave you with this final piece of feedback from Rachel, “I absolutely loved the training, very interactive and the fun injected helped with engagement during the two days. The people who have been courageous enough to allow the sharing of their stories have been so brave and motivational themselves. Real life helps on training. Thank you.”
Two wonderful days, with some fabulous folks. Onward and upward.
