Something a bit different this time. I thought I’d highlight the work of some of the people who have recently attended my Effective Factual Recording training with Stoke on Trent City Council and Expert Citizens Insight Academy. During one of the October sessions, I asked a social worker to assist me in delivering the session. Victoria acted as far more than my ‘glamorous assistant’ as we comically named her. She took the lead in a couple of discussions and discussed burn out and the blunting of professional curiosity. I won't use her full name here, she knows who she is and I think she'd be rather self-deprecating if she knew I was writing this... It was lovely to read a spot of feedback from one of the learners that stated:
“Hearing the views of other professionals, especially Victoria was very interesting. So much that I need to go away and think about.”
Plus:
“Great delivery of this course, very engaging with other professionals (Victoria) I really enjoyed it :)”
Now, isn’t that lovely to read how people noticed her input. I’ve always been blown away by Victoria’s work ethic and the fact that she took me under her wing when I was once rather low. She is a consummate professional with a real rod of compassion running through her core. So many unsung heroes in social care. Lets sing it from the rooftops.
