“It has helped me prioritise work life balance amongst other things that I know are important to me doing my job well.”
Greetings,
Well, 2025 has certainly been a busy year. So eventful in fact that I’ve fallen behind in sharing my blog posts and we can’t be having that now, can we? So. this blog post will highlight one of my most sought after courses, which one? Well, it’s Empathy Fatigue of course. I recently delivered my newly updated version to an array of professionals from across Stoke on Trent, course of Expert Citizens Insight Academy. Here are the aim and objectives of the course. Do get in touch if you think your troops may need an uplift! 😊
Aim: By the completion of the course all learners will have explored how to work compassionately with both colleagues and customers.
Objectives: By the end of the session, you will have:
1. Described what is meant by empathy fatigue and burnout.
2. Explored the different reactions of people living with empathy fatigue and / or burnout.
3. Determined how to continue to work within a stressful work environment.
4. Described what is meant by empathy and rational compassion.
5. Described how to prioritise and disregard things outside the circles of influence or concern.
6. Explained the five types of procrastination.
7. Explored how to stop defensiveness and build purpose building behaviours.
8. Recognised the need for self-regulation and being open and honest about stress.
Every learner remarked on how ‘highly satisfied’ they were with the training, a few of them have contacted me since, telling me that they really needed to recharge their batteries and the course did just that. One learner had this to say:
“Steve, thank you for the day’s training. I was dreading a whole day of training, especially with this magnificent weather, but I couldn’t have been more wrong if I tried. You were brilliant. You made me laugh, think, reflect and process how I’m going to make some changes so that I don’t end up as burnt out as some of my former work mates!”
Much more Empathy Fatigue to come from me throughout 2025 and beyond…
