So here's the thing. I've sort of knocked my blog posts on the head for the time being. I think, (when I'm being purely honest) they were mostly me going, "look! I'm busy!" Because deep down, like most of us, I endure that imposter syndrome that sits in our heads going, "you're rubbish and they all know it!" Well, to be fair I do know that I'm not rubbish and the feedback and 'feeling' I get from the troops goes some way to extolling the belief that I am in point of fact really rather good at my job.
I think the other reason is that coming from a working class background, I have a definite work ethic. A work ethic that my Dad drove into me. You work. As much as you can. My Dad, the legend that was Dave worked down the pit, seven days a week. He'd have two weeks off for our foreign holiday, both my Mum and Dad LOVED the sun. And he'd only work half a day on Christmas Day! Blimey. Being my role model, my Dad instilled in me a belief that work is EVERYTHING.
And do you know what? It really isn't.
So, I'm going to start discussing other things. My posts will return only now they won't be "LOOK AT HOW WELL I'M DOING!" I really don't need to crow about it. I am successful. My courses are tip top, always up to date, always popular and always contemporary. Everything I do is informed by 'lived experience.' I've been using the real life stories of actual people since I began all those years ago. I was ahead of the curve!
I was there in the early days of trauma and empathy fatigue and motivational interviewing and that's why people respect me. They can see my passion for my job. It's my career and my career is about making things better. It's never been about money, it's always been about people and support and laughing and loving my colleagues. Building a team. Camaraderie! You can't beat it.
I also love walking in the countryside. Reading. Meeting my chums. Eating out and enjoying LIFE.
And there you have it. Yes, I've been quiet for a while and I've also been working flat out too. See, I still had to mention that... Darn it! 😜
And doesn't my hair look lovely in that picture!
