Brand new disability course

Working Alongside People with Various Disabilities

Saturday the 7th of April 2018 saw me travelling to Crewe to deliver the brand-new course. I was going to bespoke my existing learning disability course, but instead created something new from scratch. I interviewed several people for the course and created two new films that highlighted challenges that people with disabilities face – rather unfortunately the primary challenge is ‘other people’s assumptions.’ Time and again, customers told me of times they have been massively disempowered or ignored by professionals. The delegates on training were all enthusiastic, knowledgeable and forthright in their views. The on-board train staff shared many a tale of how they have supported customers and passengers while onboard the trains. A lovely group of learners who all gave the course 100% positive feedback, with my favourite word emerging ‘inspirational.’
