What a smashing day!
Respect and Inclusion 2023 with Staffordshire County Council.
I’m back with my feedback comments, I know how you like to peruse what folks have had to say about me, especially when it’s totally revamped training for 2023. And just look at this! I think it’s fair to reiterate that they rather enjoyed themselves.
I’ve been asked to share my aims and objectives and who am I to argue, so here you go. As I am sure you are all aware, I bespoke the course to the needs of the learners and the geographical area in which they live.
Aim: To equip all staff with the abilities to recognise disrespectful behaviour and challenge effectively, ensuring your organisation is a beacon of pro-social behaviour.
Learning Outcomes - by the end of the session, all learners will be able to:
Described what is meant by respect and inclusive behaviour.
Analysed any conscious or unconscious beliefs that inform reactions.
Explored paradigm shifts and the way in which society reacts to change.
Explained the principles of the Equality Act 2010.
Determined the impact of stereotyping, prejudice and labelling.
Described the need to be inclusive.
Challenged deeply held views and looked at how to create a respectful arena in the workplace.
Determined how to think rationally rather than ‘reacting’ and ‘feeling.’
Analysed the pitfalls of communication, especially in relation to language and choice of colloquialisms.
Explained the need to be professional and inclusive especially when working within a team.
“The day went so fast, so that is evidence of how good the course was. I was fully engaged throughout; I enjoyed the variety of activities/tasks and being able to work in small groups, as well as a whole. Steven had great subject knowledge and was able to support this with lots of examples of real-life situations. I really felt like everyone was included in the day, which was a nice touch. Thanks.”
Wendy
“Really informative and included legislation and really good definitions across the course which helped with understanding and learning. Really good range of examples and topics covered leading to a greater understanding. I think the examples and personal experiences of the trainers worked really well. The use of graphics and videos made learning simple and achievable. Really good and very useful handouts and I am grateful for the opportunity to have the slides. The multiply peer learning was really good and often helped to define my own thoughts, listening to other people’s interpretations and understanding.”
Jude
“Great training, I learnt so much. Very interactive in a good way, wasn’t bored throughout the session at all and that is difficult when it is virtual training. Amazing, knowledgeable and friendly trainer (Steven).”
Kayleigh
“Really good training a lot to think about and reflect on it has given good tools to use within my role. It was interactive and interesting in learning about how Acts and legislation can support. Many thanks Steven.”
Helen
“Steven was very informative, professional and knowledgeable. When on teams training this can become a little repetitive but Steven kept your attention and made it more inclusive and practical which I really enjoyed ! :D”
Kerry
“Excellent session, really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. Very interactive and was great to be able to hear other people’s views on topics which helped to check in own thoughts. Very useful session and should definitely be a mandatory session for all SCC staff to attend.”
Carly
“Absolutely fantastic training, great pace and breaks provided at appropriate moments throughout the course. Steven’s character and the way he delivers the training is excellent and shone throughout. Enjoyed the level of interactivity and group work which keeps you engaged in the whole training and being able to complete the groupwork online with colleagues from a range of roles helps to consider the whole title of the training, Respect and Inclusion. Thank you.”
Tina

“Really enjoyed the interaction and small groups. Powerful video from Jamie on the gender and sex issues which was helpful. Helpful to explore values & personal attitudes discussion.
Thanks.”

“This training kept me engaged because there was lots of different activities and discussion points. Not death by PowerPoint. I think there was a good balance of content, discussion built in with breaks.”
